Information you enter
Protocol can store protocol names, doses, schedules, application methods, preparation and reconstitution details, reminders, inventory records, usage logs, symptoms, goals, notes, and manually entered health measurements. These records are stored locally by the app on your device.
Apple Health
Apple Health access is optional. If you choose to connect it, Apple’s permission screen lets you approve or deny each requested category. Authorized measurements are used to display health cards, trends, and general progress observations inside Protocol.
Protocol does not use Apple Health data for advertising, eligibility decisions, or automated diagnosis. Manual measurements are written to Apple Health only when you enable that option. You can change permissions later in Apple Health or iPhone Settings.
Bloodwork imports
When you choose a bloodwork report, text recognition and result extraction occur on the device. You review proposed results before saving them. Reports and extracted results are not automatically sent to Protocol Labs.
Face ID and device security
Optional biometric locking uses Apple’s Local Authentication system. Protocol does not receive or store your face, fingerprint, or device passcode.
When information leaves the app
Protocol does not automatically transmit your protocol records, health measurements, bloodwork, or usage history to a developer-operated account or database. Information leaves the app only when you intentionally use a system sharing action—for example, exporting a PDF, CSV, backup, or beta-feedback report.
Beta feedback includes basic app and device information to help diagnose issues, but no protocol, dose, health, bloodwork, or personal identifier is attached automatically. Review all feedback before sharing it.
Website information
Our hosting provider may process routine technical information, such as an IP address, browser type, request time, and security logs, to deliver and protect this website. This website does not request health records and does not use advertising trackers.
Retention and deletion
App records remain on the device until you delete them, delete all Protocol data, or remove the app and its local storage. Exported files remain wherever you chose to save or share them. Records owned by Apple Health must be managed separately in Apple Health.
Children and medical information
Protocol is not directed to children and is not intended to replace professional medical care. Do not submit another person’s health information without appropriate authority.
Changes
We may update this policy as Protocol develops. The effective date above identifies the version currently in force.
